Have you ever been in the place where someone has asked more of you than you can give? How many times have you said something like “I just don’t have any more to give”? It may have been at work when the boss asked for more time and you didn’t have it. It may have been that your children have asked more of you than you can give, or that your spouse asked for more funds to meet demands. It may have been at church that you said, “Pastor I’m worn out and don’t have anything else to give”.
The fact is that most of us are running on empty when it comes to our inner person.
Jesus anticipated times like this in our lives so He gave us a promise. In John 7:37-39 Jesus says, “If anyone is thirsty let him come to me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water’. But this He spoke of the Spirit whom those who believed in Him were to receive, for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.”
The simple fact is that you can’t give what you don’t have and if you as a person are not being filled by the Spirit of God – if you’re not walking in the Spirit, there is no way you can give that to others. Life can be demanding but God has promised us as believers that if we walk in the Spirit we’ll have what we need to the point of overflowing into the lives of others. Check your spiritual tank and see if you’re trying to run on empty. If so, take some time to allow God to fill you from His Word and by His Spirit.
Time with Him means energy to give to others.
Continue to pray for Traction, we really don’t want any rain on Friday so pray for clear skies starting Friday morning through Sunday night. Don’t miss Sunday as we will have the unique opportunity to hear Nicole C. Mullen sing in person. What a blessing. With her being here at 10:55 we’re adjusting our morning schedule so that everyone will be in Life Groups at 9:30 a.m. and then everyone will be in the 10:55 a.m. worship service. Ladies as you come to Traction Saturday, remember to car pool and be aware that you may be parking on the soccer field. Pray for God to make His name great and to reveal His presence on Saturday and Sunday.
Remember, the word for 2018 is Invite,
