1 Chronicles 16:11
Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.

Strength can be either physical or emotional, allowing us to endure difficult situations or enabling us to push through physical challenges. Our own strength can come and go based on circumstances, age, experience, training and focus. Strength from ourselves is never constant and not necessarily reliable.

God’s strength, however, is different. We look to God and find strength that is present and enduring – both emotional and physical. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. God is not subject to the changes of emotion or the physical wear of age. God’s strength never declines, never fails, never disappoints.

This week we’re inviting people through these songs and our time of worship to “look to the Lord” and to “seek his face” because we know people are coming needing strength. Some are at the end of their rope, some have nowhere else to turn, some are physically fading away and God’s strength is real for every circumstance.

Are you aware of the presence and power of God’s strength in your life today?

Is there someone in your life who needs strength that comes only from God?

God of all strength, we look to You today and find that You are strong and able in every situation. Because we want people to seek You and to see Your face this week during our worship, we need Your strength. Spirit of God, give us the power we need that comes only from You. We pray now for those who are desperate for Your strength, for the ones who have come to the end of their rope and are calling out for hope and purpose. God, be their strength. Amen.
