Deuteronomy 6:4-5
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

This simple prayer has been spoken by the people of God for thousands of years and is still not only present but so powerful for us today. Father, Son, Spirit, our God is one. Perfect community expressed as one divinity, in relationship with His people Israel since the very beginning with a desire that more and more people would know this truth. “Hear, O Israel” and now hear, people of the whole earth that the Lord is God and He is one.

How do we live in light of that truth?

We love God with everything we have in a way that displays who God is. Our love for God is not a religious activity of obedience but instead a joyful, all-encompassing, filling-my- whole-life, overflowing love simply as a response to God’s greatness, in the same way that His love for you is overflowing in a way that we may not completely understand.

With all of our heart, soul and strength we love our God who is all things for us. With our affections, our will and our energy we pour out love for a God who has never withheld an ounce of who He is from us.

What does it look like for you to love with God with all of your heart?

Your soul?

Your strength?

God of the whole earth, we say together that You are the one. You are the one we love, the one we want to know, the one we want to follow and the one who deserves all of our worship. We want to love You with everything we have out of this beautiful truth of who we are. Father, Son, Spirit, be the one we love and worship this week so that many would hear and know You are God. Amen.
