Psalm 84:4
Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you.

Gathering together as the church to worship is something we’re invited to do, something we’re instructed to do and something we know to be beneficial but at the end of the day it is up to us to choose to both attend and participate in the worship service. There’s no shortage of options when it comes to how people can spend their time but the decision to join together with the church for worship is never time misspent.

We know that the full benefit of dwelling in the house of God won’t be seen or known on this side of heaven but it is the church of Jesus together around the world who are now God’s temple and when we join together it is God who dwells among the praises of His people.

Our response to the dwelling together with one another, to the dwelling-with-us by God and to the dwelling that is to come is simple – praise! We celebrate, honour, worship and adore God when we dwell in His house. This week let’s remember the importance of worship as we are together, invite as many as possible to join and praise God together in His house.

Can you remember a time when the decision to be in church ended up in a blessing for you?

How are you aware of the way God dwells among His people when we gather together to praise Him?

God of all blessings, we say that when we gather together this week with our church we are gathering as Your people in Your house. We remember the privilege and the honour that it is to know that when we come to worship You, You promise to dwell among Your people. So we say now that our response when we are together is to praise You, to worship You, to celebrate You and to adore You so that many more would come and dwell in Your house forever.
