I’ve said it, heard it and read it both ways – Opposites Attract/ Opposites Attack. When you were young and dating, one of the questions you would be asked by parents and others might have been “Is he/she like you or different from you?” In pre-martial counseling one of the main topics dealt with are similarities and differences. We even go so far as to discuss how their parents may have been different or similar to one another and the impact that will have on the relationship. The fact is, in some cases opposites attract one another and in some they attack one another.
In no area is this more evident than with money. Either you are a spender or a saver. In my marriage, I am the spender while my wife is the saver. When we got married she and her family had saved for the wedding, she had a savings account and well let’s just say I had my last part-time paycheck. I will admit through the years it’s been a challenge.

At times that difference has drawn us closer and at times it pulled us apart.

Money has no morals, only the ones we give to it. Money is one of the main reasons for divorces, for the break-up of friendships/partnerships or the tearing apart of churches. By the way, I am grateful for Ed Peterson and our Finance Committee and for their wisdom and guidance with our church finances. I am grateful that I can trust them to deal with our financial issues. The Bible tells us that the love of money is the root of evil. No argument from me about that one. Because money plays such a key role in relationships, it is important that as a church we offer you opportunities to learn how to deal with money God’s way. On Tuesday November 7th at 8:00 p.m. we’ll host a live stream event by Dave Ramsey and his daughter entitled “Smart Money”. The event is free and you can register on our web page, hhbc.net. Let me encourage you to take advantage of this free event as it will add value to your life and we believe it will have a positive impact on your relationships. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how to be smart with the resources God has entrusted to you. By the way – if you miss registration (which we really want you to do) don’t let that stop you from attending because like I said, it’s free.
Continue to lift up Brian Custer and Bobby Adkins in prayer as they continue their hospital stays. Remember Larry Moon and Michelle Dalton as they face questions about possible upcoming surgeries. Last and most important of all don’t miss church Sunday.
Impacting tomorrow today,

Pastor Carl
