First let me do some recruiting. Our Central VA Christmas – “The Gift” – needs you to step in and help. We are in need of some folks to help us with this drama – with non-speaking parts. I need you to email Pastor Tim at tfus@hhbc.net or Jennifer Davidson at jjjd03@yahoo.com if you can help. This is one of our key ministry events of the year so don’t be shy – step up and be a part of sharing Jesus in a unique way this Christmas season.

As I was listening to the radio this morning, I heard a song that I’d never heard before. It was a David Dunn song entitled “I wanna go back”. As I listened, the words struck a chord in my heart that I wanted to share them with you. See if this might be true in your life.

“When I was a kid I was sure I could run across the ocean and I was gonna be an astronaut

When it was You and it was me I had everything I needed. Faith could even move a mountain top

And then I grew up. And then I got older. Then my life got tough and we grew apart

I wanna go back to Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so.
I wanna go back to this little light gonna let it shine, gonna let it shine.
I wanna go back

When I was a kid I didn’t care to keep up with the Jones’s I was just happy that they lived next door

When it was You and it was me I had everything I needed. Your hands were big enough to hold the world.”

See yourself in those words? As the Christmas season brings so much to do – running to visit others, cooking, shopping we then add that to an already hectic life and at times I believe we all “wanna” go back to the simpler lifestyle.

This week take some time to go back, remember Christmas as a child, which was so much fun and remember that Jesus is why we celebrate Christmas.

I want to remind you of a couple of other things. On Sunday night December 3rd, we have our end of year business meeting. We’ll be electing deacons, volunteers to serve on different ministry teams and adopting the 2018 budget. By the way – copies of the proposed 2018 budget are at the Upper Lobby and Entrance 2 kiosks. Also be sure and mark your calendar for the next few Sunday nights. On December 10th, we’ll have our Children’s Musical, “The Mystery of the Manger”. And on the December 17th is “The Gift” – our Central VA Family Christmas drama and candlelight service. Everything starts at 6:00 p.m. each Sunday evening.

Be in prayer for Danny Wingfield as he awaits more results of tests for spinal meningitis. Also remember Cathy Payne in the home going of her husband Art this past week. Art loved to sing in the choir so imagine how happy he is singing with millions around the throne of our Lord.

Impact another person this Christmas,

Pastor Carl
