As I was visiting with one of our seniors and their family, I was noticing their Christmas tree. Of course there were lights and bows and different kinds of ornaments but the ornaments that stood out were the ones with the pictures of grandchildren when they were babies. I knew within minutes those ornaments where priority number one. Like this family, all of us put ornaments that contain special memories of family, or places visited, in a place of priority when decorating our trees.

These bring back sweet memories that we cherish all our lives.

At this time of year, it is easy to forget the priority of Christmas. We are going at a hectic pace, trying to make sure we’ve got something for everyone, trying to make sure we don’t forget to send Christmas cards to old friends and making plans for family meals. However it is easy for us to forget the priorities of Christmas – Jesus, God’s love, sharing the Good News with others that our Savior has been born. While the ornaments hold special memories that we cherish and have a place of priority in our lives, may we cherish the Good News that today in the city of Bethlehem our Savior is born.

How about making a memory the next two Sundays that will last for years to come? Our Moms2Moms ministry is offering Christmas styled photo sessions on two Sunday mornings – December 3rd and 10th in Entrance 3 Lobby (near Connections Cafe). Get the family together and make sure you take advantage of making a memory and helping support this ministry that is impacting young moms in our community. Pastor Rick wanted me to also send a shout out to the men of HHBC! Men you have an opportunity to help our friends at TRBC with the Gaither Concert Friday December 8th. A representative of the Gaither Concert Production has reached out to us for help loading the concert equipment back on the truck AFTER the concert. They need 16 men at 9 pm, and the loading will take approximately 2 hours. The production company has committed to getting volunteers into the concert (which is sold out). Janet Parker, in the church office, is compiling the volunteer list and can be reached at jparker@hhbc.net or you can call her at 434.821.6906.

Impacting hearts this Christmas,

Pastor Carl
