How do you look at your circumstances and the challenges you face today? Let me be honest, through my wife’s cancer journey I’ve looked at life from time to time through my own set of lenses. There have been times when I said, “God I can’t do any more”. There have been times when I looked at all I was facing, all my wife was facing and simply went numb, I didn’t give up, but I didn’t stand strong either. In my mind, I knew the truth but I wasn’t tapping into it.

Yesterday I read the verse of the day, Philippians 4:13 in the Amplified Bible. Many of you know that verse, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. However let me write it the way the Amplified Bible states it, “I can do all things (which He has called me to do) through Him who strengthens and empowers me (to fulfill His purpose–I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.)”

Let me say as I read that verse in the Amplified Bible it had new meaning. When looking at that verse in another way, it seems to penetrate into my heart and mind give me new strength. Today I wonder as you look at life, how do you see yourself dealing with the issues of life? Yes, you can quote Philippians 4:13 but just maybe that verse will give you another way of looking at the challenges you’re facing.

As you allow His promise to sink into your heart and mind, may you find His strength being sufficient for the day, the week, the month, the year and for a lifetime.

I look forward to seeing you Sunday. We’ll meet our graduating seniors during the second service and celebrate with them as they pass a milestone in their lives. Would you join me in praying for God to continue to move and work as He’s done the past number of Sunday’s? We’ve seen adults come to know Christ and new families come to strengthen the family of Hyland Heights by joining us in the Kingdom’s work. Pray we see that happen every Sunday.
