There are times when God speaks and you can’t avoid hearing Him. Well this morning is one of those times. In my online devotion the topic was “Thanksgiving”. When I read another devotion, it was about the same thing. When I mentioned it to Debby, she shared with me that she had read about a lady who was challenged by a friend to find 1,000 things to be thankful for. Debby accepted that challenge and now has written down some 4,000 things to be thankful for.
I turned on a CD in my car of the Messianic Jew boat captain, Daniel, whose boat we were on in the Sea of Galilee. The main words to a song on this CD were Adore Adonai. Now those words are a transliteration of Hebrew so if you’re a Hebrew scholar I probably spelled the first word wrong but it’s how it sounds in English. The meaning of the two words are “How great is our God”. So I told God, “I got it, You want me to be thankful no matter what”. I also told Him, “Yes I will praise You and give You thanks”.
1 Chronicles 16:34 says, “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever”. Paul told us in Philippians 4:6 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known to God”. So many times we forget how much God has blessed us in life, which usually causes our love for Him to grow stale. Giving thanks each day awakes our minds and hearts to the fact that He loved us so much that He gave His best for us and continues to do so each day.
Today I challenge you to write down two things you can give thanks for in life and then take them to Him in prayer and say “Thank You”. It will warm your heart and bring a smile to your soul.
I wanted to let you know that because of the Sunday in January that we lost power, and last Sunday’s ice and snow, that we have taken a hit financially. I know many of you take advantage of our online giving so thank you for doing that. Let me ask you to help us get back on track and give generously this Lord’s Day. I am so grateful for your giving and appreciate you being obedient to the Lord in this area.
Just a reminder – tomorrow at 5:30 Brother Jake’s food trailer will be here to fix dinner for us! They have pizza, hamburgers, steak sandwiches, and more for sale so that you don’t have to cook dinner before you come to church on Wednesday night. The food is great and the prices even better. They will be in the back parking lot outside the gym area and we’ll have tables in the gym for you.
Remember – you are loved by Him,
